Former TV host Gary Collins has been formally charged with DUI after he was arrested while driving while impaired, prosecutors confirmed Tuesday.
If convicted of the charges — driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher — it would be Collins’ third DUI offense, making prison time almost certain.
Collins’ blood-alcohol level was .29 after his arrest on Jan. 31 — more than three times the legal limit, Chief Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter told PEOPLE.

In January 2008, Collins, 70, served four days in a Glendale, California, jail, his second conviction at the time.
His trial is scheduled for March 2.
