2 killed, 1 injured in Atlanta shootings; woman in custody

Shootings at two locations in Atlanta’s Midtown neighborhood left two people dead and one injured Monday afternoon, Atlanta police said.

Police say a suspect is in custody.

This comes after police said they were looking for an unknown woman in connection with the shooting. Police shared photos of the person with a suitcase.

Police said she was detained at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Authorities said it is not clear what led to the shooting and they are investigating the link between the two locations.

The first two victims, including the deceased, were found at 1280 W. Peachtree Street. The third victim was at 1100 Peachtree Street, police said. The third victim later died in hospital, police said.

Police also said they are investigating whether the shootings were targeted or random.
