A man has been arrested after leaving a three-month-old husky puppy with a taped mouth locked in a hot car while gambling at a Las Vegas casino.
The incident took place on July 20 when the Las Vegas Police Department received a call from Bellagio Hotel security & Casino at 3600 S. Las Vegas Boulevard at about 3 p.m. when they discovered a puppy trapped in a vehicle on the top floor of their parking garage with its mouth taped shut, police say.
The high temperature in Las Vegas that day was 113 degrees.
Authorities say security was able to get the dog out of the car through the sunroof.
On body camera images released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Husky puppy can be seen panting heavily in the back seat of the car as officers responded to the scene.

“Where’s the dog?” one of the responding police officers can be heard aiming at the vehicle where the dog was found.
“[There was a] a lot of saliva,” says a witness who was caught on the body camera of the officer. “He couldn’t breathe.”
A man – later identified as 50-year-old Raul Carbajal – can then approach the car while the officer asks him if he owns the vehicle.
“Yes,” the man replies.
The cop then turns Carbajal around, handcuffs him and tells him he has been arrested.
“During our investigation, we found that the dog had been in the car for nearly 2 hours without air conditioning, food or water while the owner of the vehicle went in to gamble,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement posted to social media. media was published. .
Carbajal was taken into custody and charged with deliberately and maliciously torturing an animal, police say.
Authorities received an update on the condition of the 3-month-old Husky puppy on Thursday, saying it is still under animal control and receiving medical treatment after the July 20 incident.
Police concluded their statement with a strong warning to the public.
“DO NOT LET PEOPLE OR ANIMALS IN HOT CARS. PERIOD OF TIME.”
