PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) reported that at least 23 people died during the Friday night tornado.

According to the agency, as of 6:20 am Saturday, March 25, dozens of people were injured, and four people were missing.

MEMA officials said they have numerous local and state search and rescue teams that will continue to work on Saturday. A number of assets are on the ground to help those affected.

“At least twenty-three Mississippi residents were killed by a violent tornado last night. We know that many others are injured. Search and rescue teams continue to operate. The loss will be felt in these cities forever. Please pray that God’s hand is on all who have lost family and friends,” Gov. Tate Reeves (R-Mississippi) said.
