Felton, Del. – Delaware State Police have identified the victim of a homicide that occurred on March 16, 2023, in Felton.
Police say the victim was Charles Kupydlowski, 36, of Harrington, Delaware.
On March 16, 2023, at approximately 4:17 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Reeves Crossing Road in Felton.
Upon arrival, the soldiers found Kupidlovsky on the road, shot in the upper body.
Police say EMS personnel attempted to treat Cupidlowski, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives began an investigation and learned that the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Steven M. Smith, of Centerville, Maryland, had an ongoing dispute with the victim.
Smith drove to Reeves Crossing Road to confront Cupidlowski, and when he arrived, he began firing a shotgun at him. After the shooting, Smith fled to his residence in Centreville.
Smith was later arrested at his home in Maryland without incident by the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office. Smith is currently in custody in Maryland and will be extradited to Delaware to face charges of first degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
