Drier weekend, but winter weather is not over yet

Grant’s forecast for Friday night

Temperatures will be well below normal this weekend. The chance of snow will continue in areas along and north of I-40 until Sunday.

Scattered snow showers still continue tonight in central and northern New Mexico, but are much quieter today than they are today. Precipitation will continue to decrease during the night. However, the winds will not let up for those in the eastern plains as they will remain windy until Saturday evening. Another light snowfall is possible in west-central and northern New Mexico Saturday night, but it looks like it will snow in that part of the state early Sunday morning. It may even bring some snow to Albuquerque early Sunday morning. Temperatures will remain well below normal throughout the weekend.

Drier weather will return across the state by Monday as the warming trend kicks in. Winds will pick up again on Tuesday, but will help set warmer weather into the middle of the week. It is then that high temperatures will return to near and above average values for the end of March. However, another storm is likely towards the end of next week, bringing cooler temperatures and the possibility of more rain and snow.
