DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Multiple law enforcement officials are searching for a Houston County Jail inmate who escaped arrest Saturday and is suspected of an armed robbery.
The inmate is 25-year-old Chase Christian Miller, who is believed to be wearing an orange or khaki jumpsuit.
The search target area began north of the jail around Plant and Burdeshaw streets and extended several miles to the east, with several possible sightings.
A law enforcement helicopter has been called.
Sheriff Donald Valenza told News4 there is an active investigation into how Miller got away.
Records show Miller is awaiting trial in Houston County on one count of receiving stolen property and is also accused of robbing a Midland City convenience store in early February where he made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Two days later he was captured in a hotel in Dothan.
