PRAIRIEVILLE — A man who helped orchestrate a robbery plot in Ascension Parish is facing murder charges after his alleged victim shot and killed one of the assailants during the botched robbery.
Cayden Killine, 20, of St. Amant, was arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and criminal conspiracy/armed robbery in connection with the Oct. 25 shooting. Kiline also faces drug charges.
This is the latest example of a defendant being blamed for their partner’s death.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Killeen and his accomplice, 19-year-old Travis Richardson Jr., were shot after they tried to rob a home. John Broussard Road. Deputies found Richardson at the scene of the shooting and learned Killeen had fled in a truck that had been hit by gunfire. He was soon taken to the hospital.
Deputies later learned the men were going to the address with plans to rob someone. The target shot Richardson, who was also holding a gun, and shot Kiline before the alleged robber took off. The man who shot them has not been charged.
